I painted this piece at the very beginning of spring when the whole world around me was slowly waking up. Nature was coming back to life after a long cold winter; humanity was step by step leaning into life after a raging pandemic. It felt like, slowly but surely, things are getting back to where they suppose to be. Deep inside, I know that we’ll never be the same, but this inner transformation brought immense strength and resilience. This is the very first owl painting I’ve done with oils. Quite a new experience for me as an artist to paint a familiar subject with a new medium. It’s often quite challenging to describe the meaning of my paintings for me. They come together intuitively, full of heart and symbols that together weave the fabric of life for me. I’m just a channel, a creator, loving them into being. When I step back and look at this piece, I understand that even in the midst of a storm, we are able to bloom, transform and evolve.
