Frida and Thorns
Frida and Thorns
This painting is a part of the series of mini Frida Kahlo portraits, where each of the paintings is inspired by her art. I take some elements from her original paintings, adding them to the story I’m telling about her. This is the ninth painting in a series inspired by Frida’s painting “Thinking about Death,” 1943. In the ancient Mexican sense, death means both rebirth and life.
Frida was the first person I owlized; she is also one of my favorites; she is one of the artists whose brush told stories brighter than any word could say.
